90% of Austin's citizens support city incentives to encourage the use of renewable resources like solar, wind and recycling. Why should Austin go solar?
December 21, 2004
The City of Austin began a solar rebate program June 1, 2004, launching construction of a solar power plant to be constructed on roof tops across town over the next 10 years.
Solar energy is not a priority for the federal energy program. It's a local leadership issue with local benefits. The solar industry has enjoyed more than 20% annual growth over the last 10 years. Austin can play a role in future growth by encouraging the use and development of solar power.
